In Memoriam:
Patrika Aurelia Gabriana Aurelia Gabriana (mka Larisa Kallaur-Telford) was a long-standing member of the Society of Creative Anachronism. She held Ealdormere dear to her heart and was extremely involved in the arts and sciences of the Kingdom.
She encouraged the youth of our Kingdom to get involved in the arts. Including getting a group of them to help make clothing for the former Queen Lyda during her reign. She often held classes for various art forms during events, canton meetings and also opening her home for those willing to learn. She was laurelled in the art of embroidery. To say she was a master with the needle is to downplay her talent and skill. Her work is known throughout the Knowne World. In fact coming in 2nd place at Pennsic 46's A&S for her printed, embroidered and beaded Byzantine Empress dress and hat. She was very knowledgeable about the different eras and cultures found in the SCA and was constantly researching and sharing the knowledge she acquired. She was also a gifted archer and could be found on the range with her family quite often. She loved her family, Her husband and soulmate Graeme de Liste de Cherbourg (Tom Telford) and her headstrong intelligent offspring Fynn (Tatianna/Kiro) and those in her chosen sca family. She formed Domus Anseri Ferei (House of the Iron Goose) affectionately known as Kwakhaus with her apprentices Kaisa Haapalainen (Amy Dunn), Jehanne de Bretagne (Annie Malouin), Eeva the Restless (Jenn Murphy) & Anneke the Furious (Lois Kerr) and junior apprentices Alana the Quiet (Elizabeth) and Saraphina of Caldrithig (Katherine). Although the focus of her teachings were mostly embroidery she also encouraged her apprentices in other art forms. Naturally dying fabrics, research, glass bead work, outfit construction, pottery etc etc. She was a remarkable woman in both the SCA world and in the mundane. Rest well Momma Goose. You are loved and missed, always. Kwak! |
